Happy 100th Birthday Jimmy Carter!

Post by JourneymanN00b »

He actually did it! Jimmy Carter is now a centenarian as of today and is now the first former president to reach that milestone. This is an awesome accomplishment, especially since he was in hospice care for the past 19 months.

As such, happy 100th birthday!

I am hoping that he lives long enough to see Christmas (which would also mean he would have a chance to vote in the upcoming election).

It appears that single-term presidents live one year longer, on average, than presidents who served longer than a single term, assuming you exclude those who die in office. This does not include Carter. If he dies at age 100 the average 1 year president will have lived to age 76 compared to 73.8 for 2-term presidents.

There are 5 living former presidents (Carter 100, 1 term; Clinton 78, 2 terms; George W Bush 78, 2 terms; Obama 63, 2 terms; Trump 78, 1 term) and one current president Biden (81, 1 term). All of them would raise the average in their respective category except Obama. For 2-term presidents to live longer than 1 term presidents, on average, Bush and Clinton would both have to live to be over 90.

Oh hey that's right, he's a single-term president. He should run!

Bumping this since he unfortunately died today. May he rest in peace.

When the earliest former living president was elected after I was born (Bill Clinton), that is how I know that I feel old.

I know this is more prominent news than usual, so this one might not be the one to mention this on.

You actually should know you are old when you PRIMARILY READ AND PARROT OBITUARIES.
